In celebration of Presidents Day, the featured collection is the James C. Free Papers. An undergraduate and graduate student at MTSU, Free served as a Special Assistant to the President for Congressional Affairs during Jimmy Carter’s administration. Following the end of Carter’s term, Free remained politically active through his organizational involvement with the Democratic Party, support of multiple presidential candidates, holding a Tennessee state government position and co-founding a lobbyist firm. This photograph in Free’s collection depicts President Carter and Vice President Walter Mondale. For more information about Free and his collection, visit the finding aid on the Albert Gore Research Center’s website.
