Society of Tennessee Archivists Offers Scholarship to Attend 2016 Statewide Preservation Meeting

The Society of Tennessee Archivists (STA) will offer a single education scholarship to allow a student to attend its joint meeting with the Tennessee Association of Museums (TAM) and the Tennessee Preservation Trust (TPT) to be held in Nashville March 16-18, 2016. The scholarship covers registration fees to attend joint conference sessions and lodging expenses at the conference hotel (when travel from the student’s home to the conference exceeds 50 miles). The scholarship also provides a stipend of $100 to help cover costs of gas and food expenses. The recipient of the STA Student Scholarship will be recognized with a certificate at the organization’s banquet. The meeting is billed as the 2016 Statewide Preservation Conference and the theme of the joint meeting is Three Part Harmony: Interpretation, Preservation and Inspiration.STA will have its annual business meeting at this event as well.

The STA Student Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in archival and related programs, such a public history, history, museum studies, and library science in Tennessee colleges and universities. Applicants will need to submit the following materials to the STA Education Committee, which must have them in hand by February 25, 2016:

  • Completed Scholarship Application;
  • Cover letter explaining why attending the joint conference will benefit the student’s current and future career goals;
  • One letter of recommendation from a current or former instructor.
